La vie en rose

Hold me close, and hold me fast
This magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose

I’ve recently started following this singer on YouTube, called Daniela Andrade (this song she sang popped up in my recommended somehow). She has an ethereal voice.

Anyhow, this is the song that I listened to:

I listened to this on loop like 6 times, hehe. And eventually, I started to decipher the lyrics, and I had an idea.

I started to imagine what la vie en rose (life in pink) would be like for me. First of all, I think it’s beautiful that this song is about happiness in love, because the color pink communicates love and tenderness.

Just summat I found online

Where am I going with this? Ah yes, I wanted to describe ‘la vie en rose’ for me.

So the other day, I got up late and waltzed over to my bookshelf to look for a book to read.

~internal monologue~

Hmm. Shall we go with some Agatha Christie? Nah. Not in the morning. Uh, how about something meaningful, like The Secret Network of Nature? I wanna read that one later with full concentration. How about some good ol’ Harry Potter? (I started to re-read the entire series after 7 years of reading it last. I’m living my childhood through my sister!) Nah, let’s look for something more crafty. Ah yes! Dear Theo (my dear uncle was kind enough to lend me this book by Vincent Van Gogh).

I jumped back into bed and started to read, when my stomach suddenly gave an almighty rumble. I dashed to the kitchen (and tripped on air) and decided that I’d like to eat some pancakies. And so I mixed the batter and flopped some onto a pan, only to have the first one unceremoniously burnt. I tried the second one on a lower heat, and it turned out quite nice.

~fast forward to the end of the day~

Food is one of my all time loves. My family and I went to a restaurant in celebration of nothing but the simple fact that my dumbassed exams were over. Unfortunately (I won’t disclose the name of the place here), although the food was pretty good, there was this incessantly loud music blasting on the loudspeakers (with one young child writhing in the air as if to dance).

So we decided to go to another place after we’d finished our appetizers in haste. (I had initially wanted to go there, but my momeh said no.)

The place is called ‘Ambrosia’, this is the link to their website. [For whatever reason, this restaurant has been rated around 3.8 stars. I, however, believe that it deserves a whole lot more.]

We ended up going with the green Thai curry (for those of you that have read my earlier post about food or know me quite well, I absolutely love Thai food) and some simple steamed rice. It took a while, but it was absolutely worth it. The aromatic Thai curry coupled with the fresh rice and the luscious vegetables really put my hungry stomach in for a treat! It was amazingly fresh, and yet the flavors had almost ‘aged’. They were so well developed, just brilliantly done. That was our entrée. As for dessert, we ended up ordering some chocolate ice cream. I was expecting an easy, clumsily put-together bowl of ice-cream, but I was pleasantly surprised. The ice-cream was so light, it was almost like a gelato. The chocolaty flavors were towards the Belgian side, so rich and flavorful. All in all, I was extremely satisfied with the quality of the food. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try an appetizer then, maybe next time.

The overall ambience was also wonderful. There was this really light music playing in the background, which really complemented the atmosphere. I loved the interiors, they made one feel welcome.

They’ve also taken the necessary safety measures to prevent the spread of our good old friend, the coronavirus.

I was a very happy person that day, with a full stomach and a full heart. That perfectly describes ‘la vie en rose’ for me, teehee.

      1. I am too old to eat anything I want anytime I feel like it. Enjoy it while you are young! 🙂

I am on a ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting to keep diabetes in remission. I am almost never hungry, although I do like Thai food very much. 🙂

        Have a great weekend!

  2. Bonne journée.

Merci de vous souvenir de cette chanson.

    ma réponse:

    Les vivants
    ça nous tient fort
    dans ses bras

    C’est la vie
    pas la vie en rose

    c’est la vie
    en noir et blanc
    nous tous les jours

    sans toi
    mais dans mon coeur
    Dans mes pensées

    la magie
    dans tes yeux
    son effet en moi
    même après des années

    Meilleures salutations

      1. Good day. Thank you for your wonderful explanation.

The soul, with its language, the dream, is the mother of all human children.

It is not easy to understand the dream, it is a natural phenomenon, every day.

I the words that occur to me, grab into my hands, are from their source.

Home is the earth to me, in the place where I stand and walk.

        Best regards
